Are you a foreigner living in Brno and want to get your driving license? Autoškola Alfa offers driving courses in English for international residents. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the entire process — from theory lessons to the final driving exam.
REQUIREMENTS FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS
EU Citizens
- You must have resided in the Czech Republic for at least 185 days
- You can exchange your valid EU driving license without taking an exam — only a medical check and administrative fee are required
- If you want a new license category (e.g., upgrading from B to C), you need to complete the full driving course for that category
- Medical certificate from a general practitioner is always required
- Valid passport or national ID card
Non-EU Citizens
- You must have resided in the Czech Republic for at least 185 days (temporary or permanent residence)
- Your existing license may be exchangeable if there is a bilateral agreement between the Czech Republic and your home country
- If no bilateral agreement exists, you need to complete the full driving course and pass all exams
- A court-appointed interpreter is required for the theory exam if you do not speak Czech
- Medical certificate from a general practitioner is always required
- Valid passport and proof of residency in the Czech Republic
Important: 185-Day Residency Rule
To take the driving exam in the Czech Republic, you must have an official residence for at least 185 days. You can start the course earlier, but you must meet the residency requirement by the time of the exam. This applies to both EU and non-EU citizens.
ENGLISH DRIVING COURSE — GROUP B
Our English driving course is designed for foreigners living in Brno who want to obtain a Czech driving license (category B — personal vehicles).

- 28 hours of training total (14 sessions × 90 minutes each)
- Up to 2 driving lessons per week
- Theory lessons with translated materials provided in English
- Practical driving in a Mercedes-Benz class B (automatic)

- Assistance with official paperwork and administration

Tomáš is an experienced instructor who speaks fluent English. He will guide you through the entire course — from your first lesson to the final exam.
Residency for Exam
You can start the course at any time, but you must have been a registered resident in the Czech Republic for at least 185 days by the time of the driving exam.
Course Price
Payment can be split into up to 3 installments for your convenience. The price includes all theory lessons, practical driving, and exam preparation.
Additional costs (not included in the price):
- +700 Kč — state exam fee (paid to the municipality)
- +Court interpreter fee for the theory exam (if you do not speak Czech)
- +Medical certificate from a general practitioner

DRIVING LICENSE EXCHANGE SERVICE
If you already hold a valid driving license from an EU/EEA country or a country with a bilateral agreement, we can assist you with exchanging it for a Czech license. We handle all the paperwork and guide you through the process.
Required documents:

- 4Medical certificate from a general practitioner (not older than 3 months)
- 51 passport-sized photograph
- 6Application form (we will help you fill it out)
Note: The exchange process takes approximately 20 working days. If your license is from a non-EU country without a bilateral agreement, a full driving course and exams may be required instead.
